Ceiling Jewelry

Just as colorful earrings might brighten your eyes or a unique artisan necklace may bring an outfit together, pendant lights bring balance, light, and flare to compliment your space. Hence, “ceiling jewelry!” Yes, this tried, true lighting fixture comes in so wide varieties; you’re sure to find one that fits your space, vibe, and budget. Below are tips on how to choose and hang this versatile lighting fixture.

It’s best to consider the height of your ceiling when purchasing pendant lights. The most popular are drum, globe, bowl, exposed bulb, mini, modern, and multi-cluster pendants. Basket-style cluster pendants are my current fave and are fun to be used in replace of a chandelier in your entry and dining area. Here’s a fun example from Shades of Light.

Pendant lights are mounted to the ceiling and come flush mount or hang via chain, rod, or thick wire. Flush mounts are best for rooms with lower ceilings, often hallways and walkways. Here are a few good rules to follow when hanging pendant lighting.

Pendant lights can be used virtually in every room. From hallways to dining rooms to kitchen islands or even your bedside light, there’s a pendant light for every purpose and personal aesthetic. An oversized pendant may compliment a more straightforward space, like a statement necklace that dresses up a t-shirt. - See where I’m going with this?? Hopefully, you now have some tools to best utilize this “ceiling jewelry” in your home. If you have questions about pendant lighting or any other design needs, please call Elevation Avenue!
